Due to the renovation of the existing supermarket in Zeist, a temporary store was necessary to allow sales to continue. The solution had to be quickly deployable, suitable for daily use, and fit within the available budget. At the same time, it was clear that the store would not be used for just a few weeks, but needed to remain for at least 18 months.

For the client, it was therefore important to choose a solution where speed, functionality, and user quality come together. This led to the creation of a temporary supermarket that is not only practical in execution but also works well in daily use.

Modular retail space of approximately 800 m2 completed in four weeks

For this project, multiple construction methods for temporary stores were explored. Based on the duration of use and the available budget, a connected and insulated variant shed was ultimately chosen. This solution offered the best balance between speed, cost control and flexibility.

The temporary supermarket is built on concrete slabs, with seams welded and sealed for a neat and functional base. Subsequently, the space was further furnished by the client into a fully-fledged supermarket.

The execution required a tight schedule. Due to heavy snowfall in January, construction could not start immediately, while the store still had to be furnished and needed to open on a fixed date. Despite the time pressure, the schedule was met and the temporary supermarket was delivered on time.

A smart solution for speed, disassembly, and reuse

What makes this temporary supermarket particularly suitable is the combination of speed and reusability. The chosen construction is easy to disassemble and can be redeployed at a later time. This makes this solution not only cost-effective in purchase and execution, but also a sustainable choice.

For temporary retail applications , this is a great advantage. The retail space can be quickly realized, is functional in use, and remains flexible for the future. It is precisely this combination that made this modular solution suitable for this project in Zeist.

Collaboration with short lines and clear communication

Although the project has been in preparation for several years due to decision-making and permitting processes, the collaboration with the client went well throughout the entire process. There was always a direct line and clear communication, allowing for quick adjustments when necessary.

This direct collaboration was important, especially since the delivery had to align perfectly with the layout and opening of the store. By remaining well-coordinated from preparation to realization, a temporary supermarket was created that exactly meets the client's needs.
