Veerle Leduc

How would you describe your role as a marketing and communications Coordinator in the modular construction business?

My job content is to develop and implement marketing strategies that help promote our modular units and additional 360° Services. I work closely with the sales team to identify target markets and create campaigns that effectively reach those audiences. I also manage our social media presence, create content for our website, and oversee the creation of various marketing materials such as presentations, brochures and leaflets.

What are some of the biggest challenges you face in your role?

One of the biggest challenges is educating people about the benefits of modular unit construction. Many people are still not aware of this option and may have misconceptions about the quality of the buildings or the speed of construction.

Another challenge is standing out in a competitive market. There are many companies offering similar products and services, so we need to find ways to differentiate ourselves and emphasize our unique selling points.

Overall, I would say that the most challenging part of it all is to manage various communication channels and tools we use in several languages with a limited marketing team.
However, in the end it is very rewarding to see the impact of our marketing efforts on the business.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I absolutely love the creative and project management aspect of my job. I enjoy coming up with new campaign ideas and seeing them come to life. I also enjoy collaborating with other in-house departments such as sales, project office or operations as well as with external marketing agencies, to create cohesive messaging and branding.

What skills do you think are important for someone in your role to have?

Attention to detail is critical, as is the ability to think creatively and strategically.
Strong communication skills are also important, as I need to be able to effectively convey our messaging to different audiences, as our business focuses on different branches.

Finally, the ability to analyze data and use it to inform decision-making is crucial in today's digital age.

What makes your working day a perfect/successful day?

A perfect workday for me can be defined as one where I can successfully complete my predetermined schedule. Of course, we all know that this is the best-case scenario, and that in a flexible professional environment several factors come in between a predetermined schedule and your actual workday.

How would your colleagues describe you?

I think that most of my colleagues might describe me as a social and fun person who always seems to be in a good mood but knows when it’s time to get serious.
They might also consider me a perfectionist who has a keen eye for detail, which sometimes can be perceived as annoying (by some colleagues
).

Which other department would you like to work in?

If I needed to change jobs for a day, I would go for something very different from what I am doing now. Perhaps a day in the life or an Algeco fitter?
Alternatively, I would also be nice to experience what a day in the life of a procurement colleague means. To try out an internal move can provide the best of both worlds; it will give us more insights about our colleagues’ job content.

What does Algeco mean to you?

As I almost wrapped up my first year at Algeco Belgium, I can look back at it with a good and positive feeling. The organization has given me a warm welcome and provided me with all the necessary resources to get up to speed very quickly.

My colleagues have been supportive and collaborative, as well as the Commercial Excellence Manager who gave me the freedom to explore new approaches while still maintaining a strong focus on Algeco’s business goals.

Overall, I am still learning a lot about the modular units business but I’m excited to see what the future holds for our marketing efforts.
