Get to know... Tim Luts

How would you best describe your job?

“Multitasking” is probably the most commonly used word to describe my role as Fleet & Transport Lead. My position encompasses many responsibilities and is often associated with other functions within the company, which means I am in direct communication with the other departments several times a day.

In a nutshell, it comes down to the fact that I have to ensure all things Fleet & Transport are properly coordinated. Broadly speaking, the process includes sorting out or taking back the modular units as planned, checking condition and availability, determining the modular units and drawing up the associated transport planning.
Working with the Branch Operations Manager and the rest of the team, we strive to make this process as smooth and efficient as possible.

What makes your working day a perfect/successful day?

First of all, I can close my office, a progress unit, with a smile when the cooperation between the Ops team, logistics providers, suppliers and customers goes smoothly and everyone is happy.
I also get enormous satisfaction from my day if we have been able to add extra value to “standard” transport using smart logistics solutions.

How would your colleagues describe you?

I suspect my colleagues would describe me as playful. Walking through the corridors with a positive attitude and a good mood is my motto. Sometimes something does not go according to the planned schedule, which is annoying, but for me no reason to be in a bad mood. There is a solution for every challenge!

Which department would you like to work in?

“Are we actually going to do this?” asks Tim hesitantly.
He doesn’t change his mind and immediately says: “Project Leader”

When we ask him why this position comes to mind first, he replies: “Because I have a lot of respect for the people who do this job.”

As a project manager, you often have to make important decisions under time pressure, while you are also the person ultimately responsible for a project. In other words, there is an enormous amount of pressure on their shoulders to meet customer expectations in the best way possible.

I would certainly like to experience the on-site delivery of a large project such as The Warmest Week.

What does Algeco mean for you?

I have been working at Algeco for more than 20 years, so I think it will be pretty obvious to the reader that I have found my place here and what the added value offered by Algeco is all about.
I have worked hard, and I have been given the opportunity to develop myself professionally and to climb higher up the ladder. It is great to see Algeco grow into the pre-eminent supplier of temporary and semi-permanent accommodation solutions, and I have been a part of this.
